Nintendo Direct 12-18-13 Rundown

The latest installment of Nintendo Direct aired today, and it had some incredible announcements! They kicked off the presentation by showing some footage from a new Wii U title where it’s Dynasty Warriors meets Legend of Zelda. With no official title, the working title at the moment is Hyrule Warriors. The game is a collaboration between Nintendo hear more on that in the future!

Iwata talked some more about the new Kirby title for the 3DS, Kirby: Triple Deluxe. The game will offer two new modes, Kirby Fighters, where you can play 4 players simultaniously and battle it out using one of the ten abilities you’ll have to choose from. Thoe other mode is Dededee’d Drum Dash, where you play as King Dededee and play in conjuction to the beat by jumping on They announced a brand new Yoshi’s Island game, Yoshi’s New Island. Looks like an incredible upgraded version of the original, with baby Mario on your back The next title is an eShop only title for the 3DS. Chibi-Robo Photo Finder is a game where you play as Chibi Robo and it’s your job to fill the museum with treasures you find by taking pictures of them. How you ask? Well, they give you a profile to fit, and you go around in real life taking pictures of everyday things, as long as they fit the profile you were given. And make sure your little Chibi Robo doesn’t die, as his battery will get low. Make sure you find him an electrical outlet to re-energize himself, he is a robot after all.

Next they talked about Pokemon Bank and Poke-Transporter, two new apps specifically made for your DS Pokemon games. With Pokemon Bank, you can your pokemon from Black and White to X and Y. Both apps will be available on December 27th.

Iwata then turned it over to Reggie, where he talked about the new 3DS title, Bravely Default. He talked about SP, or rather Sleep Points that you can accumulate when your 3DS is still on but closed. With SP, you can acquire game perks. For every 8 hours your 3DS is running closed, you get 1 SP. Say you don’t want to wait, and you want them now. Never fear, you can go in the eShop and buy yourself an SP Potion.

Bravely Default, but not just any demo, this will be a side story that is not included in the game. By doing this, it will give you a real feel for the gameplay and the classes and jobs in the game. You will be able to download it
for free.

As of February 21st, we will finally get Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U, where you can play as Donkey Kong, Dixie Kong, Diddy Kong and Cranky Kong.In the game you must reclaim your home from invading Vikings. In move is executed by you and your partner, and turns all surrounding enemies
into items!

Next up, we will be getting some DLC for the Sonic: Lost World game for the Wii U. First DLC will be the Yoshi Island DLC, where you play in a Yoshi’s Island themed level with Shy Guys, eggs and all. That DLC is available now, and is free to download from the eShop. The second piece of DLC was not exactly revealed per say…but it showed a picture of the game, with a Triforce hidden on the wall…So needless to say, we can expect a Legend of Zelda themed level A new sport will be added today for Wii Sport Resort on the Wii U. We can now get golf, with upgrades to make it more realistic, such as wind speed and terrain type. This became available after Nintendo Direct aired. Keep in mind, to play this game, you will need Wii Motion Plus controllers to do so. As of today after the presentation, we can go and download a new title for the Wii U, called NES Remix, where they take levels from famous NES games, such as Mario, Donkey Kong and Zelda, and revamp them and alter them for a new playing experience. The price was not specified, but I for one am getting this the second I get a chance!

Next up they revealed some more Luigi goodness in honor of the Year of Luigi. Coming December 31st, we can download Dr. Luigi, much like Dr. Mario, but with some awesome upgrades. You will be able to play on the GamePad alone by turning it vertically, and you can compete with other players all over the world for high scores. While we’re on the subject of Luigi, Club Nintendo members will have access to a special edition Luigi statuette.

They finished off the show with news on Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8. Rosalina and Luma will be a new character in both titles. For those of you unfamiliar, Princess Rosalina is the princess from the Mario Galaxy franchise. For Mario Kart 8, it also showed what appeared to be baby versions of the characters. It wasn’t specified as to whether this is a mode or they are just more playable characters in the game. We can expect Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U Did you enjoy this article?
